The University of Queensland provides an extensive range of scholarships, bursaries and prizes which are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and/or financial hardship.
Scholarships
Scholarships can take many forms - from those available to Year 12 students, to those specifically for indigenous students, to those undertaking a PhD in a specific area of research. Some are awarded by the University and are open to both international and domestic students from all areas of UQ, while others are available only to engineering students. Students must apply for scholarships.
In addition to the engineering-specific information available on this website, you can search a central database of University-wide scholarships at the
UQ Scholarships website.
Government departments, community groups and major companies also offer scholarships, which are not always advertised via University websites. Students are encouraged to do their own search for these on the web, via newspapers and notice boards.
Examples of scholarships:
- Dean's Excellence Scholarships - available to year 12 students
- Vacation Scholarships - available to 2nd or 3rd year students interested in research
- Xstrata Coal Scholarships - available to 2nd year mining students
- Department of Main Roads Scholarships - available to students of different year levels in several specialist areas.
