The 1602 quarto edition
of Salmacis and Hermaphroditus was published in London by
John Hodgets. It containes an authorial dedication to Calliope,
the greek muse of epic poetry (unsigned), three commendatory poems
(signed W.B., I.B., A.F.), and an authorial address to the reader
(unsigned). No author is indicated, however, Francis Beaumont's
authorship of the poem has never been seriously challenged.
