Research Projects and Activities
The School of Education has a diverse range of research projects and activities. In particular, the School is currently responsible for a research projects portfolio which includes a range of Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery grants and ARC Linkage grants, in addition to projects funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, AusAID and the Queensland Government, amongst other organisations.
Our researchers are also actively engaged in pursuing practical applications of their research, bringing their work into the everyday world, often in collaboration with Uniquest, UQ's research commercialisation arm.. Examples of our research actitivities which are enriching the lives of community members, include Latch-on, a literacy program based on Down syndrome research, and Mindfields, a program which empowers young people to create positive changes to their present challenging situations. Staff also provide regular consultancy services for a range of government departments and private organisations with regard to educational policy and practice.
Each year participants of the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (GCHEd) design, implement and evaluate an educational intervention in their own teaching and learning contexts. While not a requirement of the program, participants are encouraged to present their GCHEd projects at conferences and/or to publish them in reputable outlets. Since 2003, hese publications have been compiled as a resource for GCHEd participants and graduates, as well as for others interested in scholarship of teaching issues.
