Benefits of Supervising UQ Pre-service Teachers

The University of Queensland’s pre-service teachers come to their professional experiences from multiple pathways.

Bachelor of Education (Primary) and Bachelor of Education (Middle Years of Schooling) pre-service teachers bring enthusiasm and vitality as they progress through their 4-year education program.

Bachelor of Education (Middle Years of Schooling) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary) dual degree program pre-service teachers have a broad range of knowledge of their curriculum areas gained by drawing on the vast resources and expertise from across the University. They have also had the opportunity to work with academic experts and practicing teachers to develop their teaching skills.

Finally, some students will be completing a Graduate Diploma in Education (Middle Years of Schooling) or Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) program and bring to the classroom not just expertise in their curriculum areas, but their life experiences.

Pre-service Teacher Support

While off campus in schools, our pre-service teachers are supported by a UQ professional experience facilitator. Our facilitators are or have been practicing educators in Queensland Schools who now enjoy the opportunity of sharing their wealth of knowledge with our students.

Our pre-service teachers are supported on university campus by leading researchers in education. They are part of a thriving community of academic, professional staff and students who have rich connections with colleagues in a wide range of government and community settings.
