Welcome to PASS! PASS is run every week (starting in the third week of classes) for ECON1010, 1020, 1310, 1320 and 7300. Each session lasts one hour and is conducted by two leaders who have recently excelled in the same courses you are doing.
Sessions are designed to be informal, interactive and fun (look out for lollies)! Your friendly leaders will be happy to help you with whatever areas you find difficult, so don’t be afraid to ask questions.
PASS is designed to complement the lectures, tutorials and the textbook. Don’t think that PASS won’t be beneficial if you understand everything so far. Practice exams are completed in sessions (of which copies are not available because they are similar to actual exams), and students are provided with vital exam tips (remember that the leaders have recently done the same exams).
The format of each session is based around the PASS workbook, which can be downloaded from the relevant link below, or can be purchased from POD (Print-on-Demand, in the UQ Bookshop). Answers to this workbook are only given in class or on the website at the end of semester. These questions are all based on past exams.
Each week, a leader attends your lectures and writes a summary sheet, containing a majority of the information you will need to understand for the week, on only two pages! However, summary sheets are only given out during sessions (i.e. you have to attend PASS to get one).
Most importantly, it has been found that on average, people who attend PASS receive a mark one grade higher than people who don’t. One hour per week can save you many more hours of private study!
