Profile

Specialises in macroeconomics, applied econometrics, international macroeconomics and labour economics. Currently lecturing in intermediate and advanced macroeconomics, labour economics, advanced applied econometrics. Research interests include: econometric modelling and dating of business cycles, GDP and unemployment and international influences on the Australian economy; intertemporal analysis of the sustainability of deficits; the relationships between trade, education, migration and economic growth; labour market matching and labour market efficiency; the economics of education, unemployment and the NAIRU; trade union membership; regional and international factor flows; empirical aspects of fiscal federalism and the economics of crime. Has published in journals that include the Canadian Journal of Economics, Applied Economics, Economic Record, Australian Economic Papers, Australian Bulletin of Labour, the International Journal of Social Economics, and the International Economic Journal. Current editor of the UQ School of Economics Macroeconomics Research Group (MRG@UQ) Discussion Paper Series.
