On Thursday 29th October 2009 the School of Economics once again held its annual Scholarships and Prizes event. This event was held on campus in the Sir Llew Edwards building and acknowledged the schools highest achieving students.
Awardees, their families, staff representatives, previous scholarship recipients and industry partners attended the function where each student was formally congratulated on their achievements. 75 people attended the event, including 27 scholarship recipients.
Head of School, Professor Flavio Menezes welcomed guests to the function and acknowledged the Schools commitment to maintaining and enhancing its' reputation for quality teaching and for offering a challenging academic environment. "A key element of this priority is to attract the best and brightest students to our school and to do this we maintain a number of prestigious scholarships for high achieving students. These scholarships are highly sought after and are awarded on merit and each year we look forward to celebrating the success of these students" Professor Menezes said.
Guests also heard from Mei Li, a previous Honours student. Mei encouraged students to get involved in all that the school has to offer. “The School is a brilliant place and there is something for everyone, I was immersed in a diverse and rich environment and enjoyed many social, intellectual and environmental challenges” said Ms Li
