 Development Economics

Economics is the cornerstone of ‘development’. Social, political, wealth creation and distribution outcomes are all affected by economics.

Sustainability in terms of ecological impacts and business activities is similarly shaped by economics.

For students seeking to understand these dynamics with a view to pursuing a career in business or government, particularly in the areas of international projects, infrastructure and social development, a masters qualification in development economics offers significant career advantages.

From 2009, the School of Economics is offering two masters programs which are specifically designed to provide students with a strong understanding of the nature and issues of development; an array of quantitative analytical tools; and scope to tailor their studies for a multidisciplinary perspective:

Master of Development Economics
Master of Development Economics (Advanced)

Economics also directly impacts upon policy setting, investment decision-making and project implementation in developing health sector infrastructure in developed and developing countries and communities.

The Schools of Economics, Population Health and Medicine have combined expertise to offer graduate programs in the field of health economics:

Master of Health Economics
Master of Health Economics (Advanced)
Graduate Diploma in Health Economics
Graduate Certificate in Health Economics

In the Master of Health Economics and Master of Health Economics (Advanced), students have the option to specialise in either Health and Development or Economic Evaluation.

These programs are open to graduates of any discipline.
