Research Opportunities
As The Ecology Centre, and most UQ academics, may not have a project ready to give you, funding will normally have to come from somewhere else. Check out the one-stop Scholarships page on the UQ web site.

Ecology Centre Research Topics
Ecology (from Greek: οἶκος, "house"; -λογία, "study of") is the scientific study of the relation of living organisms to each other and their surroundings.[1] Ecology includes the study of plant and animal populations, plant and animal communities and ecosystems. Ecologists study a range of living phenomena from the role of bacteria in nutrient recycling to the effects of tropical rain forest on the Earth's atmosphere.
Researchers at The Ecology Centre specialise in a number of different research areas. These research areas are listed below with a brief explanation of each area. To see who works in any of these areas, click here: VIEW RESEARCHERS
| Behavioural Ecology | the study of animal behaviour |
| Conservation Ecology | ecology in specific relation to conservation issues |
| Economic Ecology | how economics affects and is effected by ecology issues |
| Invertebrate Ecology | ecology specifically related to invertebrates (animals with out backbones: eg. insects, spiders, mollusks, echinoderms) |
| Landscape Ecology | ecology across whole landscapes |
| Marine & Freshwater ecology | ecology in relation to all aquatic environments |
| Mathematical Ecology | the use of mathematics to understand ecological processes |
| Molecular Ecology | the study of ecology at the molecular level only |
| Plant Ecology | the study of ecology specifically relating to plants, excluding invertebrates and vertebrates. Mainly terrestrial, rather than marine. |
| Restoration Ecology | the study of restoring ecosystems |
| Vertebrate Ecology | the study of ecology for all vertebrates (animals with backbones) |
