A Short Biography
Since my days as a zoology undergraduate I have had a keen interest in wildlife telemetry. It is an exciting progressive area of research, and over the last 15 years I have witnessed the vast improvement in technology and analytical proccedures. I currently undertake telemetry projects on a range of terrestrial and aquatic Australian fauna, from crocodiles to cassowaries. I feel that much of the single species conservation management strategies are based around expert-opinion rather than critical appraisal of scientific evidence, and the main drive of my research is to improve conservation management through the modelling of animal movement. Recently, I have taken a more direct approach into bridging the gap between wildlife researchers, managers and policy makers.
