Vice-Chancellor's Equity and Diversity Awards function
Thursday, 24 May 2012, 4.30-7.00pm, UQ Centre, St Lucia campus
The Vice Chancellor’s Equity & Diversity Awards presentation event will feature a panel discussion on the topic Unity in Diversity: Dream or Delusion, chaired by ABC personality Mr Richard Fidler.
- Emeritus Professor Colin Power - former Deputy Director-General and Assistant Director-General for Education, playing a central role in UNESCO’s major education initiatives.
- Mrs Mary Graham - philosopher, lecturer, consultant, and previous Queensland Corrective Services Commissioner. Mrs Graham is a Kombu-merri woman, affiliated through her mother with the Waka Waka group.
- Dr James Jupp AM- political scientist and author. Previous federal government advisor on multicultural affairs and Director of the Centre for Immigration and Multicultural Studies at ANU.
The panel will be followed by networking over cocktails. This FREE event is open to staff, students their guests, and friends of UQ. Join us and help celebrate UQ’s 10th annual Diversity Week.

About the Equity and Diversity Awards
Vice-Chancellor's Equity and Diversity AwardThe VC's Equity and Diversity Awards recognise UQ staff or students who have made a significant contribution in the area of equity and diversity. One award to the value of $10,000 and a second award to the value of $5,000 are open to a staff member or student, or a group or organisational unit of UQ. Winning nominations will be presented at the VC's Equity and Diversity Awards presentation event on May 24 2012. Vice-Chancellor's Diversity Award for Alumni
The VC’s Diversity Award for Alumni honours a UQ alumnus who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity and has made significant contributions to meeting contemporary challenges within society through professional or community endeavours. The award recipient(s) will be presented with their award at the VC’s Equity and Diversity Awards presentation event on May 24 2012.
