The UQ School of Dentistry recently hosted the inaugural "Train the Trainers" course for laser dentistry in the Asia-Pacific region. Thirty dentists drawn from Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, China, New Zealand and Australia for an intense 2 day program, which included content in adult learning and student instruction methods as well as the latest information on clinical techniques and laser science. The course was presented by Professor Laurie Walsh from UQ and Dr Michael Koceja from Portland, Oregon, and was supported by industry sponsors Biolase Inc and Henry Schein Halas. As well as completing the training program, delegates also undertook written examinations for fellowship in the World Laser Clinical Institute, and had the opportunity to learn about the new UQ Master of Clinical dentistry program.
