Staff Development Program

Extending the knowledge and skills of its staff is one of The University of Queensland's key commitments. The University of Queensland Staff Development Program, underpinned by the UQ Staff Development Policy aims to assist the development of each individual staff member, thereby enhancing the University's performance through improved organisational efficiency and effectiveness.

Activities and courses in the annual University Program of Staff Development are continuously monitored and structured to reflect a cyclical framework of personal and professional growth. The program covers a variety of schemes and services including workshops on career advancement, leadership management, workplace skills development and self-development.

Staff appraisal

Both academic and general staff undertake The University of Queensland annual review process. This includes casual and temporary staff who are employed for more than one year. (Staff employed on a fixed term contract of less than one year, which will not be renewed, need not participate in the program.) As a result of this review process staff may achieve incremental progression, and gain access to training and development to enhance their career paths and prospects.

UQ's Staff Development Policy is documented in the Handbook of University Policies and Procedures (HUPP).
