Reportable Fringe Benefits
Reportable Fringe Benefits (RFB) tax arising from salary packaging of motor vehicles and their effect on your individual circumstances should be considered.
Having an RFB amount included on a payment summary will result in its inclusion in a number of income tests relating to the following government benefits and obligations:
HECS repayments
Child support payments
Medicare levy surcharge
Superannuation surcharge
Termination payments surcharge, and
Personal superannuation surcharge
The RFB amount will also be taken into account in the income tests for Family Tax Benefit, Child Care Benefit and the parental income test for the Youth Allowance. (These income tests will however, only include the non-grossed-up value of the fringe benefit.)
