Introduction

The University has introduced a salary packaging scheme aimed at providing a wide range of staff with an enhanced selection of packaging options. The scheme incorporates the existing separate schemes for academic and general staff. Participation is voluntary.

What is salary packaging?

Salary packaging is a means of providing employees with the ability to change the structure of their remuneration package and receive part of their salary in the form of non-cash benefits.

A deduction for the benefit option is made from your gross salary (pre-tax) thus reducing your taxable income and the amount of tax payable.

Who is eligible?

All full-time and part-time University staff with the exception of casual employees are eligible.

Staff intending to package a motor vehicle will require a continuous appointment from between one and three years.

What can I package?

  • Superannuation

  • University car parking

  • Laptops, notebooks, electronic diaries and other similar portable computers and employment-related software

  • Motor Vehicle leasing

  • UQConnect Internet Services (In-house benefits)

Where can I find out more?

Talk to the salary packaging officer, whose contact details can be found in the link in the 'More/Related information' box located at the top right hand side of this page.
