Essay Specifications and Style

Word length: 1500-3000 words.

Essays can be written on any topic related to History, Philosophy, Religion or Classics, or topics that cross these disciplinary boundaries.

Essays must have a title.

Essays should observe the regular style guide for Crossroads, using ENDNOTES ONLY in Chicago Style. If your essay does not conform to these guidelines it will not be accepted.

Competition Judgement and Criteria

Essays will be divided into the undergraduate or postgraduate categories, and judged by the Crossroads editing team, with particular consideration given to originality.

Those essays considered to be best in the undergraduate and postgraduate category will be published in a special section on the Crossroads website.

The top three in each category will also receive book vouchers donated by the Co-op bookshop on the UQ campus.

Winners will be notified via email. Judges' decisions are final.
