Matthew Martinez
Matthew Martinez is a PhD candidate. Currently researching the history
of Culture and Violence in Colombia. Academic interests include Latin
American and Military history.
Julie Washington
Julie Washington is a PhD candidate in the Studies in Religion
Department. She is a member of the Postgraduate Student Committee and on
several other boards and committees. Her academic interests are human
behaviour and psychology in a relgious context, past and present.
Sheldon Peters
Sheldon Peters has completed an Honours degree in the History discipline. He is currently attempting to survive in the real world although this may be changing in the near future. Research interests include modern German history, in particular the period of the Third Reich. He is currently studying German through the University of Queensland.
Håkan Sandgren
Håkan Sandgren is a PhD student in the field of Studies of Religion. His PhD thesis investigates two kinds of Buddhist religious festivals in Bhutan. Research interests include the intersections between religions, particularly Hindu and Buddhist relationship with Christianity and expressions of contemporary Islam as well as a general interest in mysticism.
Chad Parkhill
Chad Parkhill is undertaking a PhD on the topic of heterosexuality and queer
theory at the school of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics and the
Centre for the History of European Discourses at the University of
Queensland. He has taught philosophy at the University of Queensland, and
professional writing and cultural studies at Queensland University of
Technology. He is the recipient of the Queensland University of Technology
medal for academic excellence.
Tessa Jones
Tessa Jones is studying a research masters in philosophy at The University of
Queensland. She is currently working in metaphysics, tracking the
genesis and development of the constitution relation, as well as
applying constitution to philosophy of mind. Previously a Research
Assistant at the Caulfield Pain Management and Research Centre, she is
particularly interested in the philosophy of mind as it is informed by,
and informs, the experience of pain. Her other research interests
include philosophy of language and epistemology. She facilitates an
analytic philosophy reading group, sits on the History, Philosophy,
Religion and Classics Postgraduate Committee and likes picnics.
Jess Pryde
Jessica Pryde is a Master of Philosophy Researcher at the University of Queensland's School of History, Philosophy, Religion, and Classics. Jessica's research is currently focusing upon urban architectural responses to the Julio-Claudian Emperors throughout the cities of Asia Minor, primarily Carian Aphrodisias.
