Research Area/Interests:

The connections between new media technologies and ideas of place and community; the ways that place persists in the face of mobile technologies but is also transformed by these technologies; phenomenology and the complex bodily, social and spatial processes involved in our interactions with and uses of these devices; artistic usage of mobile telephony, especially in creating connections between strangers.

Mobile phones and the renegotiation of place

This ongoing research project investigates the ways that mobile phone use is leading to renegotiated or transformed understandings of place and social interaction, especially in an urban context.
