Georgina Born is Professor of Sociology, Anthropology and Music, University of Cambridge and Fellow and Director of Studies in Social and Political Sciences, Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
She is currently Visiting Professor, Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies, University of Queensland; Visiting Fellow, Australian Centre for Independent Journalism, University of Technology, Sydney; Visiting Professor, Sodertorn University College, Sweden; and Fellow, Yale University Center for Cultural Sociology.
She is the author of numerous articles, chapters, and policy papers and reports, as well as three influential books: Uncertain Vision: Birt, Dyke and the Reinvention of the BBC, London: Secker and Warburg, 2004; Western Music and its Others: Difference, Representation and Appropriation in Music.
