Terminology Changes

A number of variations of terminology in rules and general parlance will take effect from 2001. A number of these changes relate to the Student2000 project and the implementation of the new PeopleSoft student system.

From 2001 course values are calculated in "units", instead of "credit points". In addition:

  • "courses" replaces "subjects"
  • "programs" replaces "courses"
  • "subject" replaces "subject area" or "discipline"
  • "co-requisite" (subject/course) replaces "companion" (subject/course)
    as depicted, below -

It has also been determined that the term "Grade Point Average" will continue to be used.

Similarly, usage of the symbol "#" will continue where reference to #2 will mean 2 units; future references to credit points will use the full terminology – eg 10 credit points.
