This program is concerned with the economic consequences of injuries and disabilities and the roles the private and public sectors may play in preventing them, or limiting their severity.
 
Research themes
 
The Health Economics and Health Systems (HEHS) program comprises a number of research themes, which include investigations into
  • cost-effective injury prevention and treatment/rehabilitation strategies;
  • effective and efficient ways to manage traumatic injuries;
  • the effect of health systems (particularly health care financing, insurance and compensation systems) on consumer and producer behaviour;
  • the effect of consumer and producer behaviour on economic and health outcomes, following an injury;
  • cost-effective strategies to provide injured people and people with disabilities with high-quality health care.
