Young Queenslander of the Year in 2009, Mr Chiu-Hing Chan is the Vice Chairman & CEO of the Australian Chinese General Chamber of Business, Managing Director of the Australia China Corporation, and is also the Chairman of the Brisbane Chinatown Committee.
A solicitor, journalist, board director and a government consultant by profession, Chiu-Hing is an appointee to the Queensland Civil & Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) and an Executive appointee to the Queensland Law Society's International Relations Committee.
Admitted as a solicitor in the Australian High Court and the QLD Supreme Court, he is also the China Market Consultant for the Federal Government's Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC) and a Board Executive for the Australian Camel Industry Assoc iation.
Mr Chan was a member of the Prime Minister's Multicultural Media Roundtable in 2011 and was an appointee by the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) as the Australian Special Representative to the Shanghai World Expo - Youth Summit in 2010.
At age 24, Chiu-Hing was the youngest appointed committee executive to the Australian Institute of Company Director - Gold Coast Branch and the Queensland Olympic Council's Beijing Olympic Committee.
At age 23, Mr Chan was the youngest appointed President of the Queensland Chinese Community, along with being the youngest appointed Chairman of the Queensland Police Chinese Crime Prevention Committee.
Through his leadership of Asian organised crime prevention, Chiu-Hing was awarded the Young Queenslander of the Year in 2009 and was nominated for the Young Australian of the Year in 2010.
In his spare time, Chiu-Hing has a passion for television and radio presenting, along with hertiag! e conservation. Mr Chan is the appointed Honorary Board Executive to the Australian Sugar Industry Museum in Innisfail, Northern QLD and the Queensland Representative of the Australian Chinese Museum in Melbourne, Victoria.
Chiu-Hing is a Board of Director and an Ambassador for White Ribbon Australia. He is also an Ambassador for the 2015 Asian Cup.
He has a Master degree in Journalism, Bachelor of Law & International Relations from Bond University, and an Old Boy of the presitigous Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie).
