Wired up for water use - Comparative studies on the water use characteristics of native tree species
As part of a larger project researching issues associated with the decommissioning of the tailing dam at Kidston Gold Mine,
the CMLR is:
- Studying water use characteristics of the native tree species used to revegetate the tailing dam
- Providing data on tree and ground cover water use for input into models to predict the overall water balance of the dam
- Developing technologies that enable a more rapid and reliable estimate of total water use by stands of mixed vegetation
