Current/Recent Projects

  • Assessment of the potential for the direct revegetation of coal washery wastes: Curragh, Burton (Bowen Basin), Pikes Gully (Hunter Valley).

  • Stable isotope geochemistry and hydrochemistry of acid mine drainage: Mount  Morgan, Queensland (with A/Professor Sue Golding, UQ Earth Sciences).

  • Characterization, modelling and prediction of arsenic behaviour in the mine environment: derelict mines of southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales (with Dr Massimo Gasparon, UQ Earth Sciences).

  • Developing sustainable solutions for the salt-affected lands arising from the disposal of produced formation water: southwest Queensland oil fields (with MPhil student Kate Secombe).

  • In-pit disposal of tailings at coal mines: assessing consequences for local and regional groundwater quality  (with A/Professor David Lockington, UQ Environmental Engineering).
