Thesis Topic
Long-Term Ecosystem Development on Open-Cut Coal Mines in Central Queensland

Project info
The coal industry is facing increased pressure to show proof of the sustainability of it's rehabilitation strategies in Central Queensland.  Sustainability implies long timeframes and there are relatively few examples of rehabilitation that are well-documented over more than a few years and that remain intact.  Thus, using both historical data and the collection of current data from three existing trials, this project aims to provide documented evidence of trends in ecosystem development over periods of up to 15 years to demonstrate rehabilitation sustainability.
