Summary: Regulatory framework and legal issues affecting the exploration, production and processing activities undertaken by the minerals and energy industries; introduction to the legal system; national and international environmental policies; pollution control and natural resources legislation.

Detailed Information:

1. Introduction to environmental law (introduction to the Australian legal system; national and international environmental legislation and principles of relevance to the mineral industries)

2. Pollution control legislation

3. Management of the natural estate (laws relating to vegetation management, water resources, mineral resources)

4. Land titles and interests (introduction to land law, native title, indigenous heritage)
