Course: Mining Environmental Management Processes (MMME7402)

Summary: 

To provide an in depth analysis of EMS development and implementation within the Mining Industry. Students will be provided with an overview of EMS and how EMSs are being established within the Mining Industry. Case Studies will be presented that demonstrate the purposes of EMS and the approached taken in developing and implementing EMS on operational mines.

Students will also be guided through the EMS planning and implementation process, through a series of examples and exercise. Students will develop a thorough understanding of EMS planning and implementation.

Modules:

There will 10 modules covering EMS and ISO 14001 overview in relation to the Mining Industry, ISO 14001 explanation, Designing an EMS for the Mining Industry through in-depth investigation of each aspect with relevant case studies, EMS integration, Preparation of an EMS Implementation Planning and finally EMS Implementation.
