Overview

An Action Learning Program from the Centre for Innovation in Professional Learning.

Turn your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) idea into a successful education program using best-practice, professional development design and business tools. This action learning workshop will take your CPD from an idea into a reality.

This is an action learning process, so you will be bringing your own project to the workshops.

Working with peers and the experienced team from the Centre for Innovation in Professional Learning, you will go through the process of developing and testing your educational and business approaches, using methodologies developed and proven in the real world.

To get the best results from this workshop, you will participate as team of two, ideally with one person focusing on the business aspects of the opportunity and the other on the CPD program design.

Who should participate?

This workshop is available to UQ staff:

  • CPD advocates who wish to encourage CPD initiatives to engage with alumni or industry
  • Academics with a course idea to service professional learning and development needs
  • Business managers or sponsors supporting CPD initiatives.

  • identify and analyse the requirements of the target audience for your CPD product

  • identify the CPD mode you are operating in and the delivery model you will use
  • reflect on how to test market demand
  • understand how to tap into sectoral and enterprise workforce needs
  • develop a ‘go-to-market’ strategy.

In Day 2 of the workshop, you will:

  • describe the educational design parameters that contribute to the cost of your CPD opportunity
  • calculate the cost-effectiveness of your education product
  • identify the risks to the success of your CPD opportunity and develop a risk-management approach
  • develop and present a business pitch for your CPD opportunity
  • understand the role of a business plan in realising your CPD opportunity
