The global UNESCO World Press Freedom Day conference will be held by the School of Journalism and Communication at The University of Queensland on 2 - 3 May 2010.
Each year, the United Nations recognises and highlights the role of the free press and journalism in the defence of democracy and freedom of expression through the holding of an officially designated World Press Freedom Day. The World Press Freedom Day is held on 3 May and is co-ordinated by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. This is a first for Australia and the broader Pacific region and the theme for the conference is Freedom of Information: the Right to Know. The conference will bring to Brisbane delegates from throughout the world.
This is an event for media professionals, journalists, NGOs and IGOs involved in free press and freedom of expression issues. Pre-registration is required.
