Reginald Heber Roe Tree
On 22 June, twenty-nine descendants of Reginald Heber Roe gathered at the St Lucia campus to plant a commemorative tree to honour Reginald Roe, member of the First Senate and the first person to hold the title of Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Dr Charles Roe, a grandson of Reginald Roe and a UQ alumnus, planted the bottle tree donated by Ms Triny Roe. The tree is located within the protected Land for Wildlife area between the main lake and the Student Union Building. It is in proximity to the University Tree, transferred as a cutting from the original planted by Lady Macgregor at Old Government House as part of the University’s inauguration ceremony in December 1909.
