Following the success of the inaugural prize in 2007, The University of Queensland national artists’ self-portrait prize returns to the UQ Art Museum.

Featuring a selection of Australia’s most engaging contemporary artists working across a variety of media, this biennial exhibition focuses on a unique aspect of portraiture, that of the artists themselves.

In 2009, entry to the acquisitive prize of $50,000 was by invitation only. Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, is judge of the 2009 prize.
