Lygia Romanach - 2000s

Lygia Romanach came to Queensland from Brazil, where her family has a sugarcane farm.  She's now enrolled in a PhD in the field of rural sociology at the St Lucia campus.

I came to UQ in 2001 to undertake a Graduate Diploma.  I didn't know that coming to Australia to what was supposed to be a 'one-year life experience' was going to change my life forever.

In my first week at UQ I met my husband, also a UQ student.  It must have been 'love at first sight'!

Nine years later I am still at UQ.  During this time, I have completed my Master degree, got married and had two beautiful children.
