Laurel Hatfield completed dual degrees, Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws between 1977 and 1981.

Before I began my studies in 1977, my Dad and I visited the St Lucia campus.  Dad highly values education and has given all his children the opportunity of the tertiary education he did not have.  I was the first to attend university.  Dad and I stood in the Great Court, looked around, breathed deep and grinned like maniacs!  It was the fulfilment of a dream for us both. 
 
I had five wonderful years at UQ and met my husband there.   Now, both our children are graduates, I am a staff member - and the Great Court still gives me goosebumps.
