St Lucia campus, today
Since the iconic Forgan Smith Building was completed at St Lucia in 1939, there has been been great change in the facilities and infrastructure on campus.
Dust storm at the St Lucia campus
On 23 September 2009, the St Lucia campus (like most of the Australian eastern seaboard) was swamped in dust. We wonder if there was anything else like it in our first 100 years?
1974 Floods
In 1974, UQ's St Lucia campus was not exempt from the distruction caused by the worst floods the state had seen since 1893.
Jacaranda and Sandstone
Most UQ Alumni who studied at St Lucia would recall the Jacaranda trees against a sandstone backdrop. Every year in September, the campus is under a blanket of purple. And the story on campus is that when these flowers blossom, students know it is serious study time as exams are just around the corner.
75th Celebrations
Final UQ Senate meeting for 2009
UQ’s 31st Senate held its final meeting for 2009 on Thursday 10 December.
2010 staff and student celebrations
Staff and students from all four UQ campuses celebrated UQ's official birthday on 16 April.
