Francis William Fielding White studied for ordination at the University of Queensland and Emmanuel College in the 1950’s.

My father, Francis White, was awarded an MBE by King George VI in 1946 for gallant and distinguished service with the Indian Army in Burma.  He was a Captain in the 6th Gurkha Rifles.

He went back to his missionary calling in western China after the war and Palace officials were unable to find him.

He died in 2001, never knowing about this honour. However, last November I went to an Investiture at Buckingham Palace where the Queen presented me with Dad’s medal.
