How we celebrated our Centenary
Throughout 2010, UQ celebrated its Centenary with a wealth of events and activities and we thank all of you around the world who joined in the celebrations. Reports, still images and video footage from some of the events are linked below.

Centenary Publications and Merchandise
Eight special publications, as well as other mementos, were produced for the Centenary.
Final 2009 UQ Senate meeting
UQ’s 31st Senate held its final meeting for 2009 on Thursday 10 December.

Alumni reunions were held throughout Australia and around the world in UQ's Centenary year.

Art Exhibitions
The juxtaposition of old and new was celebrated in two Centenary exhibitions featured at the UQ Art Museum in 2010.
Centenary Celebration Day
Thousands staff, students, alumni and members of the general public converged at UQ's St Lucia campus on 18 April to celebrate the UQ Birthday.

Centenary Oration 2 May 2010: Mrs Irina Bokova, Director-General UNESCO.
Reginald Heber Roe Tree
On 22 June, a commemorative tree was planted to honour Reginald Heber Roe, the first person to hold the title of Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Alumni Reunion Weekend
On 2 - 4 July, thousands of Alumni returned to the St Lucia campus for the UQ Centenary Alumni Reunion Weekend.

Centenary Oration 14 July 2010: Professor Jim Bell, astronomer, planetary scientist and lead scientist for the colour cameras on the Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity.

Centenary Oration 26 July 2010: Professor Joseph E Stiglitz, Nobel-prize winning economist.
State Government Reception
On 25 October 2010, the State Government hosted a reception at Parliament House to celebrate the Centenary of the University.
Mayne Medallion
In 2010, the University commissioned a new artwork commemorating one of its first and most significant benefactors, Dr James O'Neil Mayne.

Professor Michael Stratton FRS
Centenary Oration 7 December: Professor Michael Stratton, cancer genetics expert and discoverer of the breast cancer gene.
Senate Dinner 2010 and Commissioned Music
The 10 December Senate Dinner was the last corporate event of the Centenary, held exactly 12 months after the inauguration function.
