The UQ Law Library is extending its opending hours from 9 to 5 for the Centenary Celebration Day.
The Faculty of Law was established with the foundation of UQ in 1910, and has since seen many notable Law graduates pass through the Forgan Smith hallways, including Sir Harry Gibbs, Chief Justice of Australia (1981-1987); two Premiers of Queensland, the Hon. Wayne Goss and Peter Beattie; the first female Queensland Governor Ms Leneen Forde (1992-97) and the first female judge in Queensland Margaret McMurdo; Hon Ian Callinan, Justice of the High Court of Australia (1998-2007); and Ms Quentin Bryce, Governor General of Australia.

The Fryer Library is one of the 15 branches of The University of Queensland Library. Established in 1927 to assist the study of Australian literature, the Fryer Library continues to support scholarship and research through its extensive holdings of publications and manuscripts of some of Australia's leading writers. Parts of the collection such as theses, rare books, architectural plans and manuscripts support cross-disciplinary teaching, research and community use.
Visit the ‘treasures’ exhibitions, collect an entry card and a stamp from the Anthropology Museum, Fryer Library, Physics Museum, RD Milns Antiquities Museum and UQ Art Museum to enter the competition and vote for your favourite treasure.
The treasures with the most number of votes will be collated, and the first valid entry drawn will win a limited edition framed print by leading Torres Strait Islander artist Alick Tipoti, valued at over $800.

Near-antiques of brass and mahogany sit beside newer but equally obsolete items like electron tubes, spiral slide rules, a computer card punch and sheets of computer magnetic core memory in the UQ Physics Museum.

Come and visit us at the Queensland Brain Institute to see our state-of-the-art facilities and meet the neuroscientists and PhD students who are working on developing new therapeutic approaches to treat diseases including ageing dementia, mental illness, epilepsy, motor neuron disease, stroke and brain and spinal cord injuries. You will be amazed by the diversity of research being undertaken at the Institute - come and see for yourself!

Fiona Foley: Forbidden is the first major exhibition to survey the work of this leading Australian artist. With a history of exhibitions featuring uncompromising titles such as No shades of white and Lick my black art, Foley’s work traces the ongoing significance of Australia’s colonial histories. Fiona Foley: Forbidden is presented by the UQ Art Museum in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.

Historic and contemporary artworks will be juxtaposed in an exhibition that highlights the depth of collecting by The University of Queensland. Ranging from the first artwork gifted to the University in 1929 – Mary Christison’s Self Portrait (c.1870) – to contemporary works by artists such as Rosella Namok and Xiao Xian Liu, the exhibition will draw on old favourites and little known gems.

Official opening by Professor Adrian Franklin Presenter and Panellist from ABC's Collectors show.
The Social Life of Things showcases material from research conducted around the world by academics from the School of Social Sciences along with treasures in the Museum. The Anthropology Museum houses a significant collection of 24,000 items, including 5000 photographs. The majority of the Museum’s holdings were made by Indigenous Australian or Pacific peoples and include many stone tools.

The Schonell Theatre at UQ's St Lucia campus opened in 1970. To celebrate this 40 year milestone, and UQ's 100 year milestone, Cinema 2 will a host a display of movie and Schonell memorabilia, such as the original projector, old movie posters, film reels and newspaper articles, blended with a reel of previews for upcoming movie releases.

The R.D. Milns Antiquities Museum displays several thousand antiquities, and is open to the public. The collection has grown from its humble beginnings to being one of the top university collections in Australia.
