Brian Donaghey - 1960s

| Brian, pictured with his cat, is now resident in the UK. |
Brian Donaghey came to UQ from Rockhampton and completed a BA with Honours in Medieval Studies and a DipEd between 1959 and 1963.
My UQ highlight was being introduced to historical bibliography and printing by hand by the then Librarian, Harrison Bryan, and then managing the Shapcott Press where students and I printed several pamphlets.
I went on to procure my own Victorian hand press, and when I removed to UK I transported it; I still use it as a hobby. For some years I taught historical bibliography in the University of Sheffield, and have published articles on bibliography using my acquired knowledge.
I hope the press is still kept in the University. I have fond memories of its idiosyncrasies!
[Note: UQ Library tracked down the printing press at the Southbank Institute of TAFE's Morningside campus, where printing is taught]
