All units were encouraged to invest in Centenary activitiesto raising profile and building relationships, especially with alumni.

A sum of up to $5,000 per unit was available for approved activities in the Centenary year. The funding was not intended to cover all costs associated with an activity or event but was intended to support initiatives and activities that in turn supported the objectives of the Centenary and its key messages.

Applications were invited on 8 May 2009, with a closing date of 5 June 2009.  Fifty-three applications were processed, some involving multiple units.  Eventually, 42 events or activities involving 49 faculites, schools, centres and other academic and administrative service delivery units received funding.

Units were responsible for staging their own activities.

Eligibility

Applications could be made by heads of units listed in the UQ Organisational Chart.

Decision-making Process

The Centenary Task Force assessed applications on the basis of their alignment with the objectives and messages for the Centenary and also on the basis of their general suitability.

Final decisions on approved projects and the amount to be awarded were made by the Centenary Celebrations Committee in mid-July 2009.

Enquiries

Questions about the application process were directed to the UQ Centenary Secretariat.

Applications Related to Centenary Alumni Reunion Weekend

Further information regarding the structure of the Centenary Alumni Reunion Weekend was to be circulated to Centenary Contacts at the end of the first week of June 2009.  It was therefore decided that organisational units should have the opportunity to check their applications for alignment with the developing shape of the program for the Weekend.

For units submitting an application related to the Alumni Reunion Weekend, the closing date was one week later, to enable units to take the additional information into consideration.
