On the Centenary: The Next 100 Years. Queensland, Australia and the World.
UQ alumnus, Dr Andrew Liveris is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Dow Chemical Company, a $45 billion global specialty chemical, advanced materials, agrosciences and plastics company based in Midland, Michigan.
On 22 November 2010, Andrew delivered the eighth Oration in the Centenary Oration series. He spoke from his unique experience as an Australian, a University of Queensland graduate, and a global business leader. He called for innovation in business models and public policy to foster an advanced manufacturing sector in Australia, which would export Australian ideas and technologies.

About the speaker
Andrew Liveris' 34-year Dow career has spanned manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing, and business and general management. He has spent the bulk of his career in Asia, where he was general manager for the company's operations in Thailand, and later President of all Asia-Pacific operations. He began his Dow career in 1976 in Australia.
