September 2017

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night.

Welcome to the CfCSC September 2017 newsletter. So much has been happening at the Centre this month and we're excited to share all of our news with you.

We've been playing it up in our postgraduate CSC Foundations class, with a little help from special guest, Laura Simpson Reeves, who shared her expertise on LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® as a tool for facilitating dialogue and problem solving.

But, it's not all just fun and games here. Centre Director and Associate Professor, Elske van de Fliert spent some of the month at the 2017 GFRAS/APEN International Conference in North Queensland, giving a keynote speech and participating in a wide variety of panels and discussions.

Meanwhile, closer to home, we've seen the first of our new monthly CSC Exchange meetings with higher degree research students and supervisors. We're looking forward to many more in the future.

In Student Spotlight this month, we caught up with recent graduate Dr Hagos Nigussie Kahssay to discuss the inspiration behind and implementation of his exceptional PHD project, which explored folk media forms and food security communication in Ethiopia.

There are many exciting opportunities for you this month, so don't forget to check out our September Opportunities page.

If you would like to talk to us about the newsletter, feel free to send an email to We are always eager to hear your ideas and feedback.
