June 2014

Welcome to the CfCSC's newsletter

At the Centre for Communication and Social Change we are very happy to announce this year's Communication for Social Change Award winners. After a difficult deliberation the award jury revealed that the 2014 CSC Award winners are photojournalist Barat Ali Batoor and Radio Free Sarawak.

Centre's Director Associate Professor Elske van de Fliert has been invited to be a member of the Governing Council of icipe- the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology.

In this edition of Student Spotlight meet CSC Master student Laura McDowell. Laura is working as radio producer and coordinator for PAW Media in Yuendumu, Central Australia.

In From the Centre we would like to introduce you to CSC Master graduate Rosemarie Tapia from Chile. Rosemarie did her Practicum in the Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre at The University of Queensland and soon will present her research in the mining industry conference Life of Mine 2014.

As always find out what is happening in the CSC arena in From the Field and get the information you were looking for on current work opportunities and volunteering experience in Australia and overseas in Opportunities.

We appreciate all feedback about the newsletter and input on what you would like to see in the future. Please contact Claudia Sepulveda with your thoughts.

Until our next newsletter!
