Welcome to the Centre's Newsletter!

The first semester is almost over and at the Centre we are very excited to show you the amazing work that the Communication for Social Change Master students have been doing. Read about their experiences during their Practicum placement.

Big Stories Small Towns Queensland launched in Beaudesert last week. Big Stories Small Towns is an evolving multiplatform documentary project that Postdoctoral Researcher Martin Potter launched in 2008. Project Officer Samantha Ryan is Producer of the project. CSC Master students will have a chance to be involved in semester 2 as part of the new Participatory Media Production course.

Martin Potter and Samantha Ryan conducted  a scoping study with the Australian Indigenous Communications Association (AICA) in Hope Vale, Cape York, on indigenous radio. Find out what this activity was about in From the Centre.

In Student Spotlight we would like to introduce you to CSC Master student Maria Veronica Cazut from Argentina. Veronica is working with Milaana, introducing participatory communication methods to a new youth-led social enterprise.

Nanda and Yutainten are both from Indonesia studying the CSC master through AusAid's Australia Award scholarships. Learn about their fascinating Practicum experience with ECCQ.

The CSC Master students that undertook the Participatory Needs and Opportunities Assessment (PNOA) have received very positive feedback from the organisations they worked for.

As always learn what is happening on CSC themes in From the Field and get the information you were looking for on current work positions and volunteering experience in Australia and overseas in Opportunities.

We appreciate all feedback about the newsletter and input on what you would like to see in the future. Please contact Claudia Sepulveda with your thoughts.

Until our next newsletter!
