Hello everyone!

We welcome our students and academic associates back to Semester 2 and hope you had a great winter break.

This month in Student Spotlight we talk to recent Masters graduate Eadie Hancock about her practicum placement in Indonesia with Australian Volunteers International working on its volunteers communication strategy. Plus, we hear from Masters student Bilge Ozgun about her Veil in Transition photo storytelling project profiling five Muslim women.

Congratulations to Ellen Strickland who has been awarded a PhD for her study Navigating the Undercurrents: An Analysis of Pacific Island Regional ICT Policy. Well done also to Hagos Nigussie for achieving his PhD mid-candidature review on his research into Indigenous Communication Forms and their Potential to Promote Food Security in Ethiopia

In news From the Centre, Associate Professor Pradip Thomas has recently given a presentation on gender and media at the AMIC conference in Dubai. Associate Professor Elske Van de Fliert and Associate Professor Pradip Thomas have also just returned from this year's International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) conference in Montreal, Canada. They both contributed to the fascinating program, including Pradip's presentation of our special issue of the Nordicom Review (which is now available online).
