Dr O'Leary teaches General Medicine and Clinical Pathology to 3rd, 4th and 5th year Veterinary Science students. Her research interests include molecular genetic causes of inherited diseases and cancer in dogs, cats and other veterinary species.
Caroline has just started collaborative research programs on blood cell parasites of dogs and cats in Australia, and also the clinical pathology of Dugongs (or Sea Cows), an endangered species of marine mammal in Australia. She also has a passionate interest in developing interactive, online case studies aimed at assisting Veterinary students to develop problem solving skills which they need in order to become good Veterinary Clinicians.
Currently (2008), Caroline has four PhD students, with two more due to begin this year.
Caroline and her husband live in Brisbane with their three children and Santa (see above) .
