Employer Profile: The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the professional association for those working in the field of information technology. We act as the voice and guardian of standards and ethics for the ICT (Information Communications Technology) profession.
Our programs help ICT professionals to develop new skills, make new contacts and keep up-to-date their awareness of the trends, policies and practices within the industry. Membership of the ACS demonstrates your commitment to excellence and to a Professional Code of Ethics. It also entitles you to the collective benefits and rewards of the Society.
Currently, close on 16,000 ICT professionals have joined the Society to enjoy the many benefits membership affords, including: keeping up-to-date in a rapidly changing ICT environment; adding practical skills to existing skills; challenging ideas and concepts; enabling participation in peer group activities; providing opportunities for extending professional contacts and networks.
Career Opportunities: As a member organisation with a relatively small staff the ACS does not provide direct career opportunities for ICT graduates. However, through participation in its various events and activities you can create employment opportunities by developing an important network of contacts with other ACS members. Membership of the ACS is very diverse and includes people at all levels within academia, government at all three levels and the private sector.
