 Defence Force Recruiting

Employer Profile: Navy, Army and Air Force Officer Careers:

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) offers professional positions in a wide variety of professions including medicine, engineering, teaching, nursing or dentistry. Whether you're an undergraduate studying towards your degree, about to graduate or are degree qualified and are currently working in a professional area, your professional and technical skills are in great demand in the Navy, Army and Air Force.

ADF Officer Careers offer challenging and rewarding opportunities to apply your skills in ways unavailable to those outside the Military. You could play a part in multi-national peacekeeping operations or conduct aeromedical evacuations during natural disasters and humanitarian relief efforts. So if you're after a challenge, a great remuneration package and outstanding training, ADF Officer Careers could be for you.

The Navy, Army and Air Force offer undergraduate sponsorships that allow you to study at the university of your choice throughout Australia. As an ADF Undergraduate, you will receive enormous benefits unavailable to other university students.

Instead of having to work part-time to support yourself while you study, we will pay you up to $32,833 p.a. (up to $51,529 p.a. for medical students) to study for your degree, then guarantee you a career in the ADF upon graduation. PLUS we will pay your HECS fees, prescribed textbook costs, student union and library fees. You'll also be eligible for subsidised accommodation or a generous rental allowance and free comprehensive medical and dental treatment as well as fantastic work experience opportunities.

As a graduate, you'll begin your career in the ADF as an Officer from day one. You'll be practicing in your chosen profession immediately, often in more challenging roles than your non-uniformed counterparts. Your leadership and management training is second to none and the experience you receive as an officer in the ADF will put you way ahead of other graduates.

Post-graduate study and continuous professional development is strongly encouraged and often fully subsided.

Career Opportunities: In some instances, the ADF uses different names to refer to familiar careers. For example, a doctor is known as a Medical Officer; a dentist is a Dental Officer and a teacher is an Education Officer.

Some of the professions available in the ADF include:
Dental Officer; Education Officer; Engineering Officer; Environmental Health Officer; Finance Officer; Medical Officer; Nursing Officer; Pathologist; Pharmaceutical Officer; Physiotherapist; Psychologist; Radiographer; Chaplain.
