DIGO is seeking Graduates for the 2010 program, applications will be accepted from Thursday 5 March to Friday 10 April 2009. Suitable applicants will start the program between November 2009 and February 2010. All positions are located in Canberra with generous relocation assistance available (see Work Conditions).

The DIDP runs for approximately 16 months. This period is carefully managed to introduce participants to the range of analytical areas in DIGO. After an initial period of formal training participants undertake two 6 month work rotations. These rotations consolidate their skills, knowledge and liaison networks vital for a successful career within the Intelligence, Security and International Policy Group and the Department. Participants are considered to be a part of the program until they complete the two rotations, or until they are promoted to an APS 4 (whichever comes first).

Participants undertake a wide variety of training during the Program including courses to enhance analytical, writing, and personal skills. The crucial one of these is the 16 week Defence Imagery Analysis Course, which specifically targets the intelligence analyst (imagery) stream. Other training programs include basic and advanced geospatial analysis.
