the Nano project

The Nano project began with an idea to introduce art forms into the environment of the centre that the children could help co-create with an artist or Atelierista.  Janet worked closely with the children, modelling, teaching, drawing, drawing and discussing what was a Nano, where did they live and so on.  The word Nano of course had a a few meanings - small and yet powerful and related also to the Nanotechnology building behind the centre.

Janet used Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences to represent the various types of expression and learning the children engaged in at Campus Kindy.  The Nanos were constructed over a couple of months and were introduced to the centre at a special display for all parents and families. The Nanos now live in the yard and sometimes visit the classrooms to provoke conversation, provide stimulus for art and representations and modelling for the children.
