welcome to the campus kindergarten website

Campus Kindy is a rich community of families, staff and the University of Queensland. All parents are encouraged to take an active part in the centre, making their association with Campus Kindergarten enjoyable and enriching.

CURRENT VACANCIES (updated 12/06/2012)
Campus Kindy currently has limited vacancies in our kindergarten rooms for children who were 3.5 years old as of 1 January 2012 (born before 30 June 2008). Children born in July or August 2008 may also be considered. Please contact the Centre for further details.

FEES FOR 2012
Due to a Queensland government mandated change of status to a Long Day Care Centre, Campus Kindy has been forced to raise its fees by 10% for 2012. However, families remain eligible for the federal goverment Childcare Benefit (CCB) and Childcare Rebate (CCR). We remain committed to excellence in early childhood education (not daycare), having two four-year qualified teachers per room, and higher staff-pupil ratios than the industry standard.
Kindy: $79 / day
Pre-kindy: $84 / day
Vacation care: $84 / day

The strong community culture fostered at Campus Kindergarten is built upon the following values:

  • Rights
  • Respect
  • Trust
  • Responsibility
  • Compassion

At Campus Kindy we acknowledge that all members of our community - including children, families and teachers have rights and all interactions should include respect.

This provides a rich environment for nurturing strong relationships and friendships, which are the cornerstone of quality early childhood education.

Compassion is an enabling value as it moves us forward into being proactive and seeking solutions.  Trust builds acceptance and enables all to have a voice, to take risks and to build community.

Campus Kindy's pedagogy or teaching style is based on the internationally recognised approach developed in Reggio Emilia a city in Italy.  The staff have taken the principles of Reggio Emilia and integrated them with the five values above.

In practice Campus Kindy's learning community is one that closely reflects the Reggio approach which sees itself as

A community of learners with a theory of learning based on social constructivism within a pedagogy of relationships.

To learn more about Campus Kindy's teaching approach please go to the Our Philosophy tab.

Campus Kindy is a remarkable place - a place where children are encouraged to find their voice in a  safe and caring community.  The core values of Rights, Trust, Respect, Responsibility and Compassion permeate the centre.  Hundreds of visitors and families consistently comment on the welcoming, warm atmosphere, the dedicated caring professional staff and the strength of the parent community.

Please look over our website and if you would like more information about the centre or if you would like to enquire about a place for your child please use the links provided or give us a call.
